PRESIDENT'S CUP SCHEDULE
To: GHMA members
In past years, the
President's Cup was initiated and maintained by the Head Golf Pro and his
staff.
After discussion
with Glenn (our head pro) and the GHMA board of directors, it has been decided
that the GHMA will assume responsibility for the President's Cup and will
designate it as a major tournament. The President's Cup will replace the Jr/Sr.
Tournament which has drawn minimal support over the last few years.
As we all know,
completing the President's Cup within a specified time frame was always a
problem because of scheduling difficulties. In order to try and eliminate this
problem, a number of changes have been made.
These changes are
as follows:
1.
Qualifying
for the President's Cup
The
weekends of May 12 & 13 along with the weekend of May 19 & 20 will
be used for qualifying. Any association member can play either one(1),
two(2),three(3) or 4 rounds in order to qualify (a fee of $10 will be charged
for each round played). The lowest
round will be used to qualify for participation in the President's Cup. The
maximum number of players that can qualify will be sixty-four (64), while
the minimum number of players needed to have this tournament will be thirty-two(32).
2. First(1st)
and Second(2nd) Rounds
The
1st round for all players will be played on June 9th
(Saturday) and the Saturday winners will play in the 2nd round on June 10th
(Sunday). Tee times and match
ups will be assigned by the tournament committee. After Sunday's round there
will only be sixteen(16) players remaining.
3.
Third Round
The
third round(16 players) will be required to play their matches on
the weekend of June 23rd or June 24th.
4. Fourth round
The 4th round(8
players) will be required to play their
matches on the weekend of July 21st or July 22nd.
5. Semi-Finals
The
semi-finals(4 players) must be played no later than the weekend of Aug.4th & Aug. 5th.
6. Finals
The
finals must be played no later than the weekend of Aug. 18 & 19.
As with all of our
major tournaments this year, all scores associated with the tournament will be
entered as a “T” and the proper scoring adjustment (holes conceded/unfinished
etc.) must be adhered to. The handicap
chairman and his committee will provide a sheet/explanation in detail prior to
the tournament beginning and will also be responsible for entering the scores
into the computer.
